What to do about Smokers
Absolutely no smoking is permitted in the Laboratory.
Cigarettes create smoke that is unpleasant for non-smokers, and is damaging to computer equipment. In addition, some smokers tend to burn, dirty, and damage
furnishings with their cigarette butts. The only way the no-smoking policy
can be enforced is if you enforce it. If you find someone smoking
in the Laboratory, you should be outraged. Please take any and all of the
following actions:
- Ask the person nicely to stop smoking.
- Call campus security to have the person removed from the room.
- Use ``rusers'' and/or ``last'' to find out who the smoker is, and mail
to root giving their name,
the date and time when the smoking was occurring, and
the name of the workstation they were using.
I will take any root mail reporting smokers very seriously.
Offenders will have their lab access privileges revoked.
