The object of the Three Village Garden Club shall be to promote an interest in gardens; to cooperate in the protection of wildflowers, trees and birds; to preserve the natural beauty of our community and to encourage artistic development.
The Club
The Club House has a large meeting room that can accomodate 150 persons. Meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday from March - December. Workshops and demonstrations are held on other Wednesdays and announced in the IRIS Quarterly newsletter.
From a very small beginning under a large tent, the Three Village Garden Club Exchange has grown to occupy the beautiful old Firehouse which dates from the early part of the 20th century. In 1941 "Old Stone Jug", a social gathering place in the center of town, was moved and attached to the front of the old Firehouse. Though Villagers can no longer meet there to dance to William Sidney Mount's music, they can gather to shop at the Exchange.
The Exchange was established to provide an outlet for the talents and crafts of Garden Club members. We have grown to include non-members who consign quality items ranging from a small picture frame to a complete bedroom set. Antiques and collectibles, jewelry, linens, unusual books, silver, crystal, old kitchen utensils and many other items are attractively displayed for sale at the Exchange. Volunteers who are members of the Garden Club staff the Exchange. The commission on the sales provides funds for the maintenance of this building as well as the Clubhouse and Sanctuary grounds in Setauket. A portion of the profit also supports beautification and conservation projects and the Garden Clubs educational programs. Please stop by and browse... you may just find that "something" you've been searching for.
The Three Village Garden Club manages the 25 acres of the
Sanctuary and Arboretum. This nature preserve is a protected
habitat for wildlife and an area where native and near-native
plants are maintained in a variety of environments. The Club's
on-going activity is to create an outdoor living museum of natural
beauty for the education and enjoyment for all. In this ambitious
undertaking, we are hoping for continued and increased support
and for a more widespread awareness of this jewel in our midst,
Come spend time seeing our salt marsh and estuary, meadow,
cedar grove, bamboo grove, vernal pond,
Azalea-Rhododendron Walk and so much more.
