I bought a Canon Powershot A620 in December of 2005 (roughly a $350 camera), and I've been taking pictures when the opportunity strikes. Composition of photographs is a bit more difficult than I had expected, but with the introduction of photoshop, things like contrast, levels, darkness and colors can easily be adjusted and corrected. If necessary, I can even edit scenery out. I run all of my pictures through Photoshop, for at least color correction. If an image doesn't have any effects or much manual freehand editing, I classify it as a photograph. If it has unrealistic elements or photoshop effects, I classify it as computer-generated artwork.
